This module describes the describe the implications of each risk factor in relation to risk of developing heart disease, how to minimize risk, and provides tips on conducting a thorough cardiac history. Prevention is the key with cardiac disease. This module is designed for nurses who are currently working in the cardiac arena or those who wish to gain confidence in their cardiac assessment skills. Cardiac risk factor assessment is of utmost importance in determining the cause of chest pain. Even if cardiac testing proves to be negative, the value of teaching moments cannot be overlooked

Risk Factors and History Taking appears in the Adult Cardiac Assessment and Myocardial Damage in Adults Modules. This module can be used as a great orientation tool for nurses who work with chest pain on a daily basis in Emergency or the Cardiac Arena.
