Welcome to the Chain of Infection module! This module includes a description of the chain of infection and its specific links, discussion of the four key modes of transmission as well as integrating this knowledge into a realistic case scenario.
TARGET audience
This module is designed for all health professionals who are looking to become more knowledgeable and confident in their comprehension and approach to infection control, and the chain of infection. This course can be used for new staff or in meeting repeated mandatory training.
Objectives
* Identify the six links in the chain of infection
* Differentiate the terms: reservoirs, portals of exit and entry, and susceptible hosts
* Describe the four key modes of transmission
* Integrate the knowledge of the chain of infection with a realistic case scenario
