This module includes a discussion of the three stages of shock along with two particulars of shock: Systemic Inflammatory Response Syndrome and Multiple Organ Dysfunction Syndrome. It also includes a case scenario that puts into practice the learner's understanding of the material.
This course has the goal of facilitating knowledge and confidence in the care of the pediatric shock patient. Stages of Pediatric Shock is also used as a great orientation tool for nurses wishing to pursue a career in the field of pediatrics.
TARGET audience
This module is designed for nurses who are currently or new to working with the pediatric patient at risk for shock. Clinical Stages of Shock has been formulated as a separate module originating from Pediatric Shock.

* Differentiate the three clinical phases of shock
* Explain what is meant by systemic inflammatory response syndrome
* Explain what is meant by multiple organ dysfunction syndrome
* Integrate the knowledge of the three phases of shock to practice by the use of case scenarios
